similarities btwn Stanford rapist & Law and Order: SVU case

Could the Stanford rapist have similarities to a law & order:study case where some boys from a fraternity where serial rapists and the school wouldn't believe the girls who accused them of rape. The frat boys came from wealthy families who were alum and the girl who accused the school of not believing her was sent to a psychiatric ward and came from a not so wealthy family. The Stanford rapist was an athlete something schools pride themselves on.
