Egyptian flag


This is the final version of the Egyptian flag that was formally adopted on October 4, 1984.

The red band symbolizes the period before the 1952 revolution where a group of army officers overthrew King Farouk, the King of Egypt. This time was marked by a struggle against the British occupation.

The white band symbolizes the beginning of the bloodless 1952 revolution which ended the egyptian monarch. The eagle of Saladdin, the national emblem of Egypt is situated on the white band

The black band symbolizes the end of oppression of the Egyptian people by Britsh colonialism and the Egyptian monarchy
