80's nostalgia with today's youngsters

yesterday while doing a tutoring session, the brother, 6 yr and 4 yr old sisters, and baby cousin of my 3rd grade student were listening to the Beverly hills cop theme, the night rider theme, and eye of the tiger. They weren't even born then. How did they even know about these things? probably mom or dad cause they would have been in their 20's or 30's in the 80's.
