grand opening of new building at ACMC

Today at ACMC there was the grand opening of the new building. I think it will be a good thing in many ways.
1. The Same Day Clinic will divert low priority cases away from the ER which will reduce waiting times. In Alameda County there is a significantly higher number of people in the ER than other areas because it's a poorer county and people use it to get primary healthcare services. It also has a high crime rate so the ER is packed with gunshot and stab wounds.
2. The new parking structure will create an additional 175 parking spots. After 9AM there's no room to park in the parking garage. Decreases the stress and time of getting to the hospital.
3. I wasn't planning on going but since everyone else did, I decided to go. Now I plan to be more active in participating in hospital events. It's a great chance to meet people who could help me find permanent work there.
4. It will show that Alameda County residents have pride in their communities. Lots of community talent was displayed in the form of very realistic looking artwork on the walls.
5. The different specialty centers are very well partitioned so it's very clear where the patient rooms, medical equipment, and help desks are.
6. One good thing about the tour was that it was self-guided. Having to answer questions on your own forces the employees to familiarize themselves with the clinic putting them in a better position to help the patients. All of the answers were written down on cardboard printouts at the clinic entrances so they were easy to find.
7. We had the chance to make quilt using a wish list with words that show what our dreams are for the building. This gives the employees a chance to show that they believe in the new building.
