downtown pleasanton

the nightlife in the Bay Area is definitely happening! Downtown Pleasanton is a definite to see! Great place to spend an evening dining and sightseeing with friends, to take out of town visitors, and even sit down with a cup of coffee and a pastry to people watch. Mary Rose and I were there last Friday. The buildings and streets make you feel as if you're walking in Europe; with all the shops and restaurants close together and made out of traditional Victorian material. Great dining! You can go Italian, Mexican, American, Asian. We ate at a place called Blue Agave where we started off with an exquisite plate of big salsa chips, guacamole, and sour cream. Followed by an entree of a big delicious burrito. We didn't have to wait at all and we were entertained by a gentleman playing low key but nice music. I could have sworn I heard Billy Idol's White Wedding except in the classic form. The restaurant building used to be a Victorian house. After eating the delicious meal, take a walk and browse all the tiny shops: candy shops, art stores, we even walked by a pet shop. It's a mostly casual, somewhat dressy atmosphere. Stay away from the fancier places as the dishes are very expensive and you'll feel out of place in jeans. Parking is tough so expect to circle around until you find a place. We parked behind a candy shop which was fine by me because I saw some very nice looking down to earth homes.
