from virus to social justice

Three weeks ago our biggest worry was coronavirus then we went into protests over race relations which is now our biggest concern. Three weeks ago George Floyd's family had no idea he would be dead and an international celebrity. 4 cops had no idea they would lose their jobs and be in jail. How do you go from using a fake dollar bill to being dead and an international celebrity with 4 cops in jail. There were several people killed or hurt by cops but none of them had international momentum like George Floyd.
My take: the quarantine needs to end because people can't stay out of work forever.  Businesses can't survive without revenue. The country will go bankrupt trying to support people who can't work through no fault of their own. If the virus affects immunocompromised people the most then those places taking care of them should have been quarantined. Kids need to learn social interaction which they can't do online. Adults also need social interaction. The lack of social interaction and going out into the community can cause psychological damage.

From what I saw in the video, Minnesota DA was absolutely right to arrest those 4 officers. Chauvin kept pressing on his neck even after he was begging he can't breathe and kept his knee on Floyd's neck for several minutes even after he quit begging. It looked like he had his knee on Floyd's neck for 10 minutes. During that time, he was menacing Floyd and the Asian cop paced around for 10 minutes doing nothing. Bystanders were telling them to let him go and it looked like they had medical training because they were able to tell that he was bleeding from the nose and to tell the officers to check his pulse. I saw Floyd fall to the ground when he reached the cop car then it doesn't show what happened between that time and him being pinned down. They said they spent 10 minutes trying to get him in the car. IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE HIM CALL FOR BACKUP! THE BYSTANDERS SHOULD HAVE CALLED FOR HELP INSTEAD OF STANDING THERE CRITIZING THE COPS!  Maybe he would still be alive?😟

2020 is starting to look a year to make history! First a pandemic that hits the richest country in the world the hardest keeping us locked in our homes. This is leading to ways of doing business that people in this day and age haven't seen before such as having hand sanitizers available, separating tables to distance people, limiting number of people and the all time favorite of wearing masks. Next a black man gets killed while being arrested by a white cop. This leads to worldwide protests over police brutality in minority communities. Could George Floyd be the next Martin Luther King? This is leading to people starting to have an appreciation for black owned businesses. It's also leading people to take the Black Lives Matter movement seriously.

The USA is starting to resemble the 3rd world! This is the first time in my life I can honestly say I've lived through a large pandemic in a country with the best health care. Normally we associate severe illnesses with 3rd world countries like Ebola in Africa. It's also the first time in my life I can honestly say I've lived through a worldwide race war leading to looting and damage to businesses. We normally associate constant fighting between different groups in 3rd world countries like Nicaragua vs. Sandinistas in South America.

What is the likely outcome from all of this? New policy concerning police procedure? a holiday named after George Floyd? A black owned business appreciation day? A shrine to people who lost their lives due to coronavirus? A plaque in hospitals worldwide honoring the healthcare workers treating the coronavirus patients? Stipulations for insurance companies to cover coronavirus treatment?

These are just some things I'm thinking off the top of my head
