I watch Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and Law & Order: CI a lot. They always take the view that everybody thinks but never says out loud. They show the ugly realities of the foster care system: that many people do it to get money from the state. They make rich kids going to prep schools with parents who donate to the school to get their kids out of trouble look bad. They show the bad side of pharmaceuticals: they just want to sell medications regardless of the bad effects it has. The producer doesn't like doctors so doctors are the bad guys in plenty of episodes. They are pro-gay and pro-Arab. However, they do make extremists look bad by showing the viewpoint that I've heard my mom say many times: they hate the freedoms we in the United States have so they try to destroy us to take it away.
There was one episode last night where a girl was killed because she made a video showing the filthy conditions in a meat packing factory. It showed ants crawling all over the meat. This stood out for me because this issue was something that reformers discovered in the 1800s and it's been corrected. Thus, it's hard to think that meat would still be packaged in filthy conditions in this day and age. However, it does bring to light things that we don't know because our government makes sure that we don't find out. They lie to us and the people that find the truth are killed and they say suicide. Remember the CPA that was going to testify against the Enron CEOs. He died a day before he was going to testify and they said suicide
In addition to small group and individual tutoring and afterschool programming, I started working specifically with special needs kids.
