Striking Chicago teachers rally to wrap labor deal
I agree with the salary increases. America doesn't care about its teachers which is one reason why our public education system is so bad. In the mayor's defense, students in schools with unionized teachers have the disadvantage of teachers not caring what happens to them, not wanting to do anything. Why should they? They know their jobs are secure regardless of what happens. Tenure can be a disadvantage because the school has to go through red tape to decide wether to fire a bad teacher or not.
For the past couple of years I've been working with special ed kids in the day and as an afterschool teacher in a recreation center that focuses on art. I've been working in that recreation center for the past 3 summers as well. Aside from that I like rural USA, cooking, swimming, walking to Lodi Lake. Latest obsession: orange stretch bracelets and short sleeve orange sweaters
